I want to upgrade my HDD in my Acer Aspire 7741g... The problem is that 1TB hdds are 12.5mm thick and does not fit inside my laptop so I think of purchasing an adapter for the DVDRW bay. I found something that fits Acer Aspire 7745 but I have no clue if this is compatible with 7741g bay; does anyone may suggest an alternative or tell my if I should purchase that item?

There should be a second HDD bay inside your laptop.

Converters for the optical wont give you any extra vertical space.

If you need the space you could get 2x 750GB drives. Put the first one in the second slot (make sure you buy any connectors you need if your laptop did not come with a second HDD) migrate your original hard drive to the one you just put in (acronis or another brand of software can do this, if you have a seagate drive already their tools (seagate disk wizard) will do it for free.

Now take your original out and put the one you just copied over to into its place and then put your 2nd 750GB drive in the second bay.

voila 2x 750GB drives giving you 1.5TB of space.

Ah well you can get a fenvi dock or equivalent to put a second HDD in if you dont use you optical bay much and move it to external.

Still the same size restrictions apply.

That would let you put 1.5TB in though.

Thanks Meaker for your sugestion but I still want an internal second hdd not a docked one, so my question still stays: is there any optical-bay hdd adapter that will fit acer aspire 7741g?

Okay Meaker, thanx. Do you think it will fit my 7741? Does the bezel may be put back or it will remain with that metal shiny edge exposed?
