Acer plans to launch three touch-enabled products with Windows 7, according to a project manager from the company's mobile computer department. The manager, Shih Hung-wu (transliterated from Chinese), also said touch-enabled netbooks may see good market acceptance if they are to be marketed as cheaper alternatives to tablet PCs.
Acer also believes in-cell touch panel technology will have good prospects, and the company will be willing to adopt in-cell touch panels when makers launch them, Shih said.
In-cell touch solutions, which build touch components directly on the TFT-LCD panels, are cheaper than built-on touch solutions, and are easier to apply to new products, Shih said.
