    Hello-bello!

I bought Acer 7745G with HD5850, 4GB DDR3 and i430M. The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium. During playing with cod2, wow and grid it stops for some second. Just the game freeze, mouse still work and i can hit alt+tab and go to the desk. I checked it, at this moment the HDD works 100% for that time. After that the game runs perfectly.

I updated my drivers, installed new Windows 7 and there is only DX9c.

Can somebody help me? This is so annoyin...

Are you using WiFi at the same time ?
Have you set your power settings to never spin down the HDD?

Do you have any other computers on the IP connection? Do they lag too. Don't rule out your connection prematurely. I have had issues with Comcast in the past.

    ORB - Result Analyzer

    I hope you can check it. If not the results: 3DMark: 5476, SM2.0: 2216, HDR/SM3.0: 2066, CPU: 2520 @ 1600x900, 8xaa and anisotropic.

And this is not real lag, the game freeze for some second, at this time the HDD works at 100%. A guy said something about pagefiles, but i dont know what it is.

What should the DXdiag say? What should i check? I'm not a prof, just a weekend user... :)

    Main (quietHDD)

Turn off energy saving features, this often fixes the lagspikes, especially with WD harddrives.

    DX version and functiona check

    Start > Search/run > Type dxdiag.exe

Enter or on W7 right click run as administrator

Lots of lovely tests to identify DX problems, but with that confguration ath the bottom of the first page you see it should say Direct X version: DirectX 11

What do you mean, the hard drive works at 100%? Where are you seeing that information?

Your "guy" probably is referring to paging to hard drive, what happens when you run completely out of RAM. But with 4GB, I can't see how that's possible.

What other programs are you running while gaming?

Hard Disk Sentinel. It's monitoring the temperature, reading and writing speed, also you can run several test.

There is nothing else, torrent which doesn't downloading, a touchpad software and daemon tools.

I haven't tried the program yet, i had to go.

I had the same problem with one of my old computer few years ago. When I was playing Trackmania or another game, it would freeze and loop the sound in the game for about 2 or 3 seconds. I tried to update the audio-driver and voila, the problem was fixed! I suggest you try the same.

Okay, I'll try it, but there is no looping... And the quietHDD doesn't work. It causes full freeze and the game not responding, but just the game freezes everything else run.

I bought this notebook with pre-installed win7. I just installed the wow, grid and cod2. After I noticed the problem I installed the DiskSentinel, that showed the HDD works at 100% when the game freezing and it gives loudly and strange processing noise. That program doesn't matter...

Download HWMonitor and post a screenshot with your temperatures. Let's rule out other possibilities here.

I got it and I've run 3x 3DMark06 test. (1600x900, 8xaa, anistropic, all rendering stuff off and it said 5400 point, it's good?)

The HDD's temperature didn't change during the test, one of them 38C and the other one 35C.

Maybe should I give it more stress? :)

I've found something. The Total Commander sometimes open the directories slow, it's connecting. After I open 3-4 directories everything is okay, it opens the directories instantly. Can it mean something?

This part doesn't matter more, i could install the Catalyst newest version.[It said there is no compatible hardware or software. The graphic adapter's version is not supported. I downloaded the Catalyst Software Suite fromhere. When I updated from acer.com there wasn't any problem and the difference between the two drivers only 1 month.]

    Temperatures look fine.
Have you tried uninstalling Total Commander?

Have you considered using your recovery DVDs to restore the system to its factory default state, and see if the problem persists?
(backing up your existing system first, of course)

You said that you are using win7, open resource monitor, and run the game, and when the freeze happens immidiately alt-tab into resource monitor to see what caused such high activity.
