I seem to have a problem with my laptop. when i play games, the computer heats up to about 60degrees C :eek:verheat: and then the screen shows a lot of lines and the computer freezes...

i've contacted acer and they just said "your laptop is not designed to play games". what kind of tech support is that? anyways, anyone have the same problem/solutions to it?

    thx

Computers can go a little haywire when you dont have enough juice to run intensive games. Lots of blinking, refeshing and maybe even lockups can occur. It's not just your system, but it any system that's not compatible for the software.

Well, in your case Acer is somewhat correct, the SiS isnt the best GPU to play games on :( .

If you do want to play games try increasing the RAM and also if you can afford one get a cooling pad. The laptop has only one fan which is located inside the chassis without a direct opening, so the fan works overtime when running intensive applications leading to overheating issues. I think the GPU is the one overheating in your case as it only has a passive heatsink(no fan). The cpu temperature of 60C is not enough to throttle the computer.

Yeah, I would side with Acer support - that is definitely not designed to play any sort of 3-D games.

What is probably happening is the Northbridge is overheating - integrated graphics can cause the notebook to overheat, I've see it happen many times before.

Acer Support is correct. Your laptop is not designed for gaming... It would help if you live in an area with a cold climate or in an air conditioned room.

A cooling pad would also help keep the notebook cooler - Vantec makes some really nice aluminum ones, they're the best for dissapating heat.
