I update my bios from 3311 to 3315 on my 8204 and saw the hardrive mode is changed from udma 6 down to 5.

    from bios readme.
"3. Slow down hard drive to Ultra Mode 5.
    append\asl\satapri.asi
    append\asl\satasec.asi"

I ran HD tune before and after and the only real change is the burst mode from about 101 down to 96 MB/s..most other parameters are the same ;20.2/40.1/32 min/max/avg transfer rate ;15.9 ms access time ;CPU useage 2.3-2.6%

I may try and push back to udma 6 and see what i get. is UDMA tied to the hardrive? chipset? or both? Wonder if Acer saw performance/reliability gains by setting this down to UDMA 5... but :)
