I own an ACER Aspire 3613LCi notebook which works fine except that the 40GB harddrive is almost full. In looking at the currently installed drive it appears to be an IDE unit even though Windows says that there is an Ultra ATA Storage controller installed. I took the current drive out and went to a local computer store for a larger laptop internal drive and was told that this ACER would only take an IDE drive; not a newer ATA unit because of the plug. Is this true that I need to order an "older" IDE type harddrive? If so, any advice on what to order and from where would be apprciated. Thanks for any advice.

Yeah I think from the store told you the right thing, this laptop can use IDE hdds only. The best IDE hdd that I know of is Samsung HM160HC, there is a great review of it right here.
