Having some very strange Win7 RC install problems on my Timeline 3810T.

First - If the SATA was in AHCI mode in the BIOS, I would get a BSOD every time the partitioning was complete and copying files begun. When this was switched to IDE mode, installation went off without a hitch. This is with the machine's stock 320GB hard drive.

Second - I've received a Corsair P256 SSD drive, based on a new "very compatible" Samsung controller. After installing this SSD, the BSOD occurs no matter which mode I'm in (IDE or AHCI). I cannot seem to find a way around this. I've tried loading all different version of AHCI drivers from Intel for the ICH9M-E, but no go.

Thoughts? Opinions? Wild guesses? I'd really like to unleash this SSD :)

Sounds like a problem with the 3810T. I used the stock HDD and an Intel X25 on AHCI mode and a Vertex in IDE mode, anything without any trouble.

Try updating your bios to the latest (1.04), and if that doesn't help, RMA.

If you are able to install Vista or XP, try that first and see if it goes well. If it does, then it's probably a Windows 7 issue. Else, it's likely a hardware issue, and I would RMA.

Yea I agree don't RMA because of a RC release OS doesn't make sense.
My old P4 BSOD with Windows 7 due to lack of support of ICH-5 Controller Driver(Microsoft Screwed up).

Does it mean there is something wrong with my desktop?

Maybe the AHCI controller driver is not good in Windows 7 RC. Just install with IDE and switch to AHCI in BIOS after installation.
I know it makes another BSOD but it is easy to fix.

I don't know what happened but mine was working find and then it BSOD and now I can't do anything. I can get to the login screen but then after I put in my password it BSOD. I'm trying to reinstall 7 but it's not even letting me boot from the flash drive.
