    Hi all,
I am running Windows 7 RC1 on the 3810t, and have been experiencing some weird issues. I am hoping that someone in the NotebookReview community has already struggled with these problems and can help me resolve them.
The first issue concerns the laptop screen. When on battery power, it seems to fluctuate in brightness and contrast without my express permission. I have looked around in video card and power settings, as I thought that maybe this was a "feature" to save battery power or something, but have been unable to find anything.
Secondly, the computer sometimes goes to sleep long before the time delay for inactivity has passed. The last straw came yesterday, when I continually struggled with waking my compy up, and then having it go to sleep three or four seconds later, over and over again. I won when i yanked the battery out. Except that I wanted to use the computer, so I guess the computer won...
Anyways, I think that this machine is great. The battery life is amazing, and it runs quickly and smoothly (I have the 3810t-6775 with an SSD --the performance of the SSD is incredible). Hopefully someone can help me with these minor (read: major) issues so that I can transcend into computing bliss.

    Dan

try a reinstall, if that doesn't work, try a bios flash, if that doesn't work - warranty service

For problem 1, I know people had that issue and the key was in the settings as its trying to save battery life by adjusting, search the forum for the solution.. it's in one of those massive threads

For problem 2, make sure you check all your settings and see what u are currently set at.

ok so i found the setting for the brightness/contrast problem (in power settings in the intel driver controls), but now I have another problem. The settings do not persist. After a system reboot, everything is back to how it was, and the screen flickers in that same, annoying way. What can be done about this?

I have the same issue with my 4810. Its the most annoying thing. I tried messing with the settings in the Intel driver but nothing I have changed seems to help. I believe it adjusts the brightness based on what is on the screen. For example, if whatever you are viewing is mostly white, it dims the screen, but if its dark, it brightens it. In my opinion its a dumb feature, and wastes more power than it saves. I want to just set the brightness low and leave it there...

Hehe, I think they're might have been an update for the program, if not you might need to wait or go read what people are doing with the issue.

I honestly didn't pay attention to those posts since I am running vista

I'm having the same problem. My contrast keeps drifting up and down without my input. I'm on vista, so it's not just a Win7 problem.

I'm going to update my Intel driver and see if that works. The problem is that I don't know how to induce it to do the contrast-adjust, so I'm not sure if I'll even know if i fixed it. The driver is at http://downloadcenter.intel.com/download.aspx?url=/17887/a08/winvista64_15134.exe&DwnldId=17887&ProductID=2991&lang=eng.

edit: Oh, wait. That's the version I already had. Nevermind. -.-

I have ePower. When I hit the leaf button, it does turn off. But even when it's off, my contrast swings around. It's not a brightness thing, either, so I don't see how it could extend my battery.

    What's launch?

it is e power software that trying to save some battery.. as someone mentioned before, try to reinstall the software and turn off the green leaf.. screen will no longer fluctuate but will lose some battery life.

Not sure about sleep and wake up problem. i would update *all* drivers or windoows 7 update for solution.

I'm having the same issue where the brightness/contrast automatically adjusts to very extreme levels (3810t). It never happened to me when I was running Vista, but as soon as I upgraded to Win7 it started to happen quite frequently (several times per day). I changed the Intel graphics settings to "disable power savings" which does seem to fix the issue, but as another member posted, these settings reset to default after you shut down your computer. Has anyone figured out a way to permanently fix this annoying bug?
