Hi!
I've got a problem with my 4820tg - yesterday a vertical line appeared within the left third of my screen. At first it was dotted and purple-greenish and disappeared after and for a few minutes. Then it came back as a solid green line from the top to the bottom of my display.
This happened within Windows after a cold boot (first use of the device after some weeks) and a short time of idling but continued on while booting and within the bios.
What I've tried:
- change from the discrete graphics (Radeon 5650) to the integrated Intel one (no change)
- hooked up an external monitor (no line there, everything's fine)
Now i'm wondering if it is the display that is broken or some controller passing the signal to the screen.
Should i try to open up the laptop and take a look at the cables? Maybe the connector somehow got loose?
If i have to replace the screen i would try to get a used one since there is no more warranty - would it be possible to salvage one from a different model? If so - how do i know what fits?
Thanks![]()

You can get access to the display cable by removing the keyboard and then splitting the base. If it's loose, you might get lucky. My guess is that you have a problem with the LED connections and need a new display. Replacement units are cheap enough that it probably isn't worth putting a used one in there.

I found a non-glare replacement for the T ZG: Display for the 4820 TZG
It looks ok in the picture. And according to this thread t-z-g-what-do-they-mean the difference between the models is the CPU. If this is the only difference the screen should fit but i'm not sure about this.
Does anyone have more insight or an idea how I could find out for certain? -
It's indeed the only difference so it if is meant for TZG it will work in TG too.

Many thanks to the both of you
