Lately, I've been noticing some weird issues with the stock Broadcom wireless card on my TimelineX 3820TG. The wireless adapter would suddenly die on me and the little bottom right icon for (LAN/Wireless) would turn to a red X. Press Fn + F3 and the icon is grey out. I have to restart the machine and after a fresh reboot, the system is fine again. This doesn't happen often but enough to annoy me. I already updated to the newest Broadcom drivers from Acer's website.

Anyway, I want to change the wireless card to an Intel one. Which model do you recommend? Do they all work or will there be compatibility issues with newer cards?

    TIA

Make sure that you don't buy a card that is meant to be used in Lenovo or Dell laptops - these won't work.
    Anything else will.

Also I would recommend against buying Intel 7260 - it does work correctly only on 5GHz band, on 2.4GHz it's crap. In a 13" laptop that is meant to be carried around, inability to use the most popular band would be disastrous.

My recommendation - Intel 6200/6205 (but not 6230).
6200/6205 is a dual band 802.11n card that does the job very well and is good value.

    Thanks!

Is the stock Broadcom card half height or full height? I don't want to get the wrong size for the Intel version.

    Sorry - it's half height.
