so today i reapplied my thermal compound replacing the oem compund with some mx-4 by arctic cooling...my idle/load temps are exactly the same.

the technique i used was a small bb sized dot on the gpu as well as the cpu and a small line on the rectangled part of the cpu.

my idle temps are 50c for the cpu and 51c for the gpu, full load is 86c cpu and 80c for the gpu.

i just dont understand how you guys can be as low as 29c idle!!?!

btw im overclocking the cpu with setpll to 154mhz fsb and my gpu is running at 810/1020 via amdclocktool

It basically can't be 29*C idle, unless you live in an igloo or something.
Your temps are fine BTW so just leave it.

with antec formula 5 (same as AS5), applied with compression method, I got 44-45 degres, so it's not "that" cooler than yours. And under heavy load, I got 75-80c, so about the same.

In short, your temps are fine.

Although I start with a rice grain size blob, I spread it across the entire heat transfer surface before mating them. Arctic Silver Incorporated - Home# Your temps are fine.
