I had the mainboard of my Acer 4002WLMI replaced on Jan 17 2008.

I have been using my Laptop ever since without experiencing any problems. Today, I turned it on but it turned off automatically after a few seconds. The unit was connected to the original power adapter. Ever since I can't start the notebook any more.

    Symptoms:
    1. On battery power:
    - Power indicator is green even if the unit is off
    - When pressing the power button
    a) The laptop doesn't boot
    b) The fan is on permantely
    c) The screen remains black
    d) The power indicator blinks (green - orange)
    2. On battery plus power adapter:
    - No led's are on
    - When pressing the power button
    a) The laptop doesn't boot
    b) The fan is on permantely
    c) The screen remains black
    d) The power indicator blinks (orange only)
    3. On power adapter only:
    - Symptons like 1.

I did the power reset like resommend on the Acer's support site but it didn't help:

Any suggestions what to do? I contacted Acer support I'm currently awaiting their response.

I can't hear any HDD activity; however, the media LED does flick. I guess that comes from the DVD drive. If I insert a DVD the drive starts reading it for a few seconds. Nothing else happens.

    or try a complete reset.
with the power off and the battery removed hold down the power button for 15 seconds.this will reset the bios.
