Yeah, I used arctic silver 5 to remount the heatpipe slug...though the angle the copper pad makes with the CPU die looks a little out of square? I played around with the compression screws for the pipe/heatsink and it didn't really change. Laptop runs fine though...doesn't seem to overheat.
However, how does the thermal sensor for the fan work - i.e. what governs when it turns on? Is it based on the temperature in the heatpipe somewhere or on the temperature reported from the CPU die itself? -
I guess from the die, not sure....and the fan in most notebooks switches on at 160F, maybe..
