I was about ready to purchase a TM4650 or TM4100 and I'm reading the reviews and they are saying things like "good for serious bargain hunter" or "if you're on a tight budget." I don't want a bottom line machine. It looks good on paper to me...what are they talking about? Can anyone explain this?

I don’t see anything wrong with those laptops, the main difference is one is wide screen the other is not. Both are relatively low resolution with an integrated video card. They also have lower end CPUs but there not so low as to make the laptops bad performers.... It really depends on what you want to do with them, if you’re looking for a gaming system look elsewhere, if you looking for something to surf the web and use office these will be more then good.

Well, TravelMates are excellent machines, and not low end.

If you would like a better solution, you could complete the FAQ in the hardware forum. ;)

I think Acer offers good value, but they are not top quality machines. If you want that look at IBM, Fujitsu, Asus, Panasonic or HP's business class notebooks.
