    could you by any chance post pictures and videos of this product, including first impressions and benchmarks and what not?

    i am interested in the gt540m even though it is a re-branded 400m series i just like the fact that a slim acer has the gt540m with the newest intel processors.

    tbh, the device is exactly the same as the 4820tg without the battery life. reasons why i asked for the drivers is that optimus is not auto kickin in when launching some of the games i've thrown at it... nfs hot pursuit, bloodstone, bad company 2, although mafia 2 seems fine...

    specs wise, i couldnt fault this machine... powerful gpu and cpu in a 2.2kg shell, betters the ati hd5650 imo...

    will post some pics/video of the device in action later :)

    set me back $6000 hkd, and there werent no international shipping options... it was in a small independent computer shop and i snapped it up on the day of arrival :)

    I wonder how it (the GT 540M) fairs against ATI 5650 which has been in many Acer notebooks for the second half of 2010. Is it possible if you could post some general benchmarks results (3dmark06, 3dmark11, and all the fuss) williamt? That could shed some light on things.

    Also, care to post a screenshot or two of GPUz? Or does that not recognize this yet lol.

    Well its basically an oced 435M:

    GT435 = 96 @ 650/800
    GT540 = 96 @ 672/900

    I see, so I guess it's more or less a higher-middle class GPU in the 15'' category.

    Is the ATi 6550 (I think some people got that when purchasing new timelineX's from europe in recent weeks) just a rebranded 5650 in a similar manner?

    Yes, though it supports GDDR5 so Acer could make one of their limited run monsters.

    Imagine, Sandybridge + 6550 @ 600mhz core with GDDR5 :D

    Result
    was a little better the first time on a clean install...

    first impressions are good, my only quibbles would be the some slight flex on the keyboard. the led panel is bright and vivid but viewing angles arent as good as some of the dell screens ive seen on display. last groan would be optimus not switching to the dedicated graphics cards, but im sure that this will improve over time with updates/drivers...
