    Hi,

Im currently using an Acer Aspire 5920G. Im in the market for a new Laptop since the 5920Gs battery is terrible (lasts about 1.5 hours) and so I found this:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/176853

My only problem is that I feel the CPU is too slow to run programs like Dreamweaver CS4 and Photoshop CS4 adequately. My 5920G has a Dual Core 2.0Ghz Intel CPY where as this 4810 has a SU4100 at 1.3Ghz. I cant find any benchmarks for the SU4100 either which doesn't help :(

    Is that fast enough?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

PS: I found this: http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/598283/acer-as3810tz/?cm_mmc=google-_-ppcpm-_-laptops-_-598283&_$ja=kw:as3810tz|cgn:Laptops||Acer||Acer+as3810tz||598283|cgid:1473828096|tsid:12089|cn :pPCPM||Products||Computers|cid:41031066|lid:12739070565|mt:Broad|nw:search|crid:3868569066 seems like a good deal to me, its cheaper and has more memory..... or am I missing something?

I'm pretty sure the cpu is also single core so you will notice a significant difference between your current laptop. Dreamweaver will run horribly on it. Not sure if you can get a new battery with a longer lifespan but that might be an option you could go for.

The su4100 is dual core, but this laptop is an ultralight... better than a standard netbook but not a desktop replacement

That said, I'm using the 1410 with an su2300 processor right now (just got it today!), and I'm going to put CS4 on it. I don't anticipate any difficulties. The 11.6" screen would be a bit small for me for major work, but this will be great for taking back and forth to work, or traveling. Oh, you actually linked to the 3810 that has the 13.3" Better...

Hey Krista, please let me know how the laptop performs with CS4 as this is a selling point for me :)

Hi, right, sorry I saw this thread first and now I've gone and replied to you other one in the AS5920, still sounds like there's a problem with your battery. I've got a 5920 school latop that has a standard battery and it charges up to 100% but then only says it's going to last for 45mins, I put mine in and it give me two and a half hours..

I have an 1810TZ, which has the same CPU and graphics.

Both dreamweaver CS4 and Photoshop CS4 run ok on it. Photoshop CS4 uses gpu for rendering now, which the Intel GMA 4500MHD supports.

I guess it depends what your after, but its still a 1.3ghz dual core cpu. Plus the 8 hours battery life helps alot.

Thanks for that vita peice of info, you have reassured me the SU4100 chip can cope with my neads. Just out of curiosity, can you try and load Dreamweaver CS4 and Phosothop CS4 at the same time whilst having a couple of web browsers open and tell me how long it takes. I'm going to do the same test on my 5920G and compare the results.

I'm not sure this is the best test for what is essentially an ultra portable laptop, as it's unlikely you would launch both programs at exactly the same time?

It takes 21 seconds on mine, I think if you launched one, then the other it would be faster. At the end of the day its not exactly designed for performance, I have my pc for that.

EDIT: I'm not sure what version of PS you have, but mine is 64-bit.

The 4810 comes with a build in dvd drive, no? Why would you need an external?

Sorry, haven't installed it yet... got really busy this weekend on my ol' Asus with CS3. I'll try putting it on tonight and see how it goes.
