First. Whats the difference between 3820 and 4820 other than size?

I prefer the 14 inch unless the 13.3 has other benefits.

Also where did the i7 version (4820TG-644G16Mnks) go?
If I could have an i7 4820 with the amd 6650 I'd be ecstatic.

Finally is it worth it to wait for the SB x830 models? How long would it be? How much est. Cost?

    Thanks!

3820TG has two cooling units instead of one, and seems to be a bit cooler for it. Not that the 4820TG runs hot, it's just not as cool running as the 3820TG. Current gen i7 DC chips can have IGP and 6650 but current gen QC i7s can't fit all four cores AND an IGP on the chip. Next gen i7 will be able to fit IGP on the same chip, and hence have switching graphics and work discrete at the same time.

If CPU performance is important, wait for sandybridge. Early benchmarks show a huge improvement in performance over current gen core i CPUs. GPU wise the 6650 is a bit faster than the 6550 or 5650, but not enough to lose any sleep over, and you can overclock both the 5650 and 6550 hugely, closing most of the gap to the 6650.

It also depends on your needs. If the new models follow the original release of the 4820TG, it could be the end of Q2 (late June) before we start to see SB units in North American stores or retailers. If you can wait, I would always try to get the latest upgrade.

Prices should not be much more than the current models.

My needs are basically the best graphics, cpu, cooling, and battery life for the price.
The **30's are thinner, better cpu, possibly better gfx, and battery life.

At the same time I need a laptop pretty soon..
I could rough it out but it would not be pleasant.

Anyone know how much they'll cost once they drop?

To me it kind of depends on how overclockable the 6650 is. If it's not overclockable or not by much and it starts in say the mid 8000s on 3DMark06 then I can hit that already with very stable overclocking. Now if it is overclockable then it will probably go to 9000 to 10000 pretty easily, and maybe a little more. If there's some major manufacturing problem and they fix it, release could be delayed, or the first batch could all explode on contact or something.

If you just got to have a 6650 today there are options. Just not this one

6650 machines out there right now: Acer 5552G-7632 has a 6650 and a dual core 3.0GHz AMD CPU for $589. . It's 17" stablemate, the 7552G-5430 is $699 and has a 1600x900 screen. They all have good reviews on newegg.

Cool. I'd also like to know which overclocks better.
I like the 5222g price. The processor doesn't compare to the timelines.
How does everything else stack up?

Well those machines are thicker, heavier and generally get worse battery life than the 4820TG does or the 4830TG will.
