Hi, I have a Aspire 4920 which abruptly refused to boot to windows Vista preffering to run the repair program. The repair fails each time.

I tried Alt+F10 which comes up with a menu, option 1 is to return the machine to the factory default. However it is asking for a password which I dont ever remember putting in.

Using a PE disc to boot the machine I have searched the hidden directory but been unable to find a file with any password in it.

Unfortuantley I dont have any recovery disc and am reliant on the hidden partition for the recovery.

Can anyone give any idea on how to find the PW so I can make use of the feature

    Rgds Phree

The default password is six zeros - 000000.

If it doesn't work for you you'll need to look for more information elsewhere as per the forum rules discussions on how to bypass security measures are not allowed.

Thanks, I tried 000000 but that didnt work,

I more than happy not to bypass the security if there is a way to create the recovery CD's from a PE command promt that anyone might know about ?

    Thanks for the prompt response
