Hi Guys.
Bought a 5014 recently because of its gaming abilities although not primarily.
Problem is.. running Die Hard.Nakatomi Plaza, which is hardly a high tech game these days, there are lines all over the screen. This runs perfectly on my desktop which is shared graphics! Are there any settings for the Radeon chip that will cure this.
Thanks

Does this problem happen with other games on your notebook? If not, then it could just be an incompatibility with the graphics card/drivers/system and the game. You can try upgrading the graphics drivers for your notebook and see if that helps.
From what I found, this unit should have an ATI X700 GPU. You can try a couple places to get the new drivers.
1. www.OmegaDrivers.net
2. Directly from ATI and then run the ATI Mobility Modder Utility from www.DriverHeaven.net/patje to allow the install of ATI original drivers on a notebook.

are the lines there just during the game or all of the time??

The lines only appear during that game... Will try the driver update Vb... Thanks for the help guys

didnt work... must be compatibility problem...

The game's probably a bit too old to work properly on the hardware. I've seen games like this, works fine on and old card, but don't work properly on newer cards. It just comes down to the features the game uses is no longer supported or done differently so that it affects it in a bad way.

I havent found any compatability problems with my 5014. It has run BF2, Doom3, HL2 without any hiccups. I would guess that it may be the age or a known problem with x700? Try searching google for other (non notebook) related problems.

It shouldn't have anything to do with the hardware itself. This game is almost 4 years old and there were no DirectX 9.0 graphics cards in the market at that time. It's most likely the hardware just doesn't support the older features that the game uses. This usually happens when new hardware comes out with a bunch of new features. They drop the older unsupported features to make room for the new.
