I have an Acer 5021WLMi that i bought late august.

I have a problem that sometimes the screen suddenly goes black and i can't do anything. The power is still on, and the only way to get it started again is to hold down the power button in 5 secs or so. Then it shutsdown and i can turn it on again.

In my power settings i have "Always on" and Turn off monitor to "never".

I have no screensavers and as stated; i cant hit the mouse og keyboard to get the laptop going again.

Hi maxx,I have the same model as you and i get the same thing happening! you don't have to hold down the key for that long just press once and it should come on to the start screen then on to what you were doing! i don't know why it doe's this but i'll find out and let you know ok.Is it doing it this when your on battery or when your on the mains or both?

    Hello!!

Sorry for the long waiting time for my answer.

It happens when it is plugged in. I have tried hitting the button just once but then nothing happens, i have to hold it down in 5 - 8 seconds whereafter the computer shuts down and i can restart it.

I have enabled speed stepping and set PowerMax for the graphics card to battery save and it seems to cure the problem, because i havent seen the problem since i did that. It might be a coincidence as the problem only shows up sometimes.
