That is an awfully generic question that could be narrowed or specified down quite a bit more. I "think" your asking me if there is a way to hook an external antenna up to your laptops wireless card to recieve a better signal. Overall my best suggestion is to use a pcmcia orinoco wirless card that has the option to use an external antenna built in. This way you can use a cantenna and have specific omni-directional frequence while connected to a wireless signal.

    Pick up a cantenna at thinkgeek.com - http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/accessories/7060/

And the wireless card - http://cgi.ebay.com/Lucent-ORiNOCO-...ameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting

Get the GOLD not the SILVER. And you need a prisim chipet if you want to run airsnort or other packet capturing utilities (not to mention netstumbler for windows works best on prisim chipsets)

    hope this helps
