bought this laptop last week for £480 but now i have found the 5102 for roughly the same price...does it make a big difference having core duo compared 2 my single core?thanks 4 any replies as i'm new 2 all this.....

There is a significant difference between single core and dual core. Not in speed (Generally), but it the fact that you can multitask, much bettr with a dual core. Depends on what you do though. If all you do is word process, and surf the Internet, then a single core would do just fine. But if you play games, and have loads or processes running in the backround, or use encoding that is multithreaded, then a dual core would almost be necessary.
Also, a speed increase can come from a dual core, if the program you use is multithreaded. By that I mean, that it can take advantage of both cores. That way, the processor works at the full 100% and not at the 50% it would if the program was not multithreaded. Hope this helps. -

Is not possible to return the notebook, and then purchase the 5102. Some shops, I think can exchange it. Good luck.
