5102 memory upgrade advice needed

im looking to upgrade my memory from 1 gig to 2 gig can anyone give me some advice which is the fastest memory and type i need for my laptop

Check and see what your current RAM confuguration is. Some notebooks come with two modules of 512 MB, which results in the full 1 GB. If your notebooks has such a configuration, then you will need to remove both modules to upgrade to 2 GB. You can check what your current configuration is by using a program called CPU-Z.

 

i am also thinking of upgrading my ram from 1 gb to 2 gb, can anyone tell me how many sticks does acer aspire 5102 wlmi, comes with , and when i checked my system configuration with CPU-Z it told me that my memory is single channel, does this mean that there is only one gb stick inside my laptop, plz advice me guys and also plz let me know the compatible memory with my laptop, thanks ..

 

i just saw my Ram is samsung pc2- 4300 ddr2 ram, so can i club this ram with ddr 2 667 , i dont want to buy a new 2 1 gb sticks just want to get another one and combine that with the present one, so plz advice me regarding a compatible one...thanx a lot

 

In cpu Z, look under the memory tab and see what's in each bank. If its 1x1gb of 533 ram, then the best thing to do is get another gb stick of 533 ram if you dont want to buy 2x1gb sticks.

If there are 2x512mb, then I suggest buying 2x1gb 667 ram.

 

its 1 gb but i dont know whether its 533 or not, its given 266 Mhz, can i add any ddr 2 533 with this....thankx for ur reply...

 

266MHz in cpuz means its a 533 module. So your best choice is to get another 533 1gb stick.

 

just took my ram out of my 5102 ive 2 512mg sticks in on them it says
2R X16 pc-4200s-444-12 (what does this mean) how fast is this memory.
so if i want to upgrade to 2 meg and the fastest memory which do i need to buy that works in my laptop

 

Thats 533 ram. What you need to buy is 667 (pc5300) ram.

 

can we club 533 and a 667 ram....
