    5102 tl-64 upgrade

    ive just orderd a tl-64 cpu i just want to know how much hotter it would get over the tl-50 and im i ok with the fan thats already in the laptop (not sure u can put a bigger one in anyway ) and would the extra heat make any difference to the perfomance

    with installing the tl64 and 2 gig of 667 i should quite a fast notebook from the tl50 and 1 gig 533 ram which i have at the moment

    i believe that the tl-64 is a 35 watt part; there will be a temperature increase but it shouldn't be dramatic. You need to make sure that you have a bios that supports this chip as the tl-64 is a revision-G part.
    There should be a noticeable increase in performance; especially with the new RAM as you'll be getting the most out of your system.

    ive updated the bios from the acer site to the latest one

    The latest BIOS (v3.05) will allow you to use that processor :)

    yes ive updated to v3.05 but do i use the same fan

    not sure you can put a bigger cpu fan in a notebook ive not looked yet

    there is no other fan that can be fitted to the unit; the thermal output of the updated cpu isnt much higher than your current one. Its only an extra 4 watts if i recall correctly so theres nothing to worry about; i didn't notice a change in temperatures when i changed from a tl-52 to a tl-60.

    heres the link to there store ,i see they still have some tl-60s in stock so mail them to see if they can get you a tl-64 let me know how you get on
