Google showed a lot of acer user with this problem. Locked up by bios password they didn't set or just missing. I was wondering if updating bios version would reset the password?

I know I can get to DVD drive with the HDD out. I can create a dos boot disk and install that way.

Or is there any way of resetting it?

No the diffault password for PHOENIX: phoenix, PHOENIX, CMOS, BIOS doesn't work.

Update! updating bios from 1.08 to 1.33 does work. I can get in the bios now.

Now it's the HDD 0 that requires password. I don't know if it's the BIOS or the HDD itself. I'll have to try different HDD and see for future references.

Ok, using different Hard Drive works. It's just the hard drive itself that is password restricted.

Now, i'm confronted with new issue. I dont think it's normal. When I put the notebook to sleep or off, it shuts off but the power button lights and the power LED blinks. To turn it back on, have to reseat the battery without ac adapter plug-in.
