    Hello,

My Acer 5520G decided to stop working.
When I push the Power button, nothing happends.
A few days (weeks) before it stopped working, I detected some strage behaviour.
    For example:

    - when I pushed the power button to turn on the notebook, it did not started imediatly after i pushed the button, but a few seconds later. Sometimes I had to push the Power button 2 times in order for it to start.

    - when the notebook was on and I wanted to put it into sleep mode, i pushed the Power button but nothing happened. Sometimes it worked and managed to get it into sleep mode but i couldnt get it back to normal because when i pushed the button to turn it on nothing happened. If I pressed the button for a few seconds the LED on the Power button started flashing (red) but it didnt start :( So I had to remove the battery and AC so I can reset it.

Now only the battery LED is lit in a red color. I remember when the battery was charching the LED was red but it was also flashing. Now it doesn't flash, just stays lit.

I tryed to start it without the battery but also it didn't start.
I kept pressing on the bower button for 15 - 20 seconds or so, obiously nothing happened.

    Please help :(

First and foremost, check the power button with a multimeter.

    ^ yes.
However, these motherboards fail often. Its probably because of the nvidia chipset.

You can upgrade the motherboard in this laptop. You would need a new CPU and 2 new heatsinks. The motherboard would be from a 5720g which is Intel pm965 chipset, supporting core 2 duos 2-3ghz...
Its about 60$ for the motherboard and could be under 40$ for everything else. Very good upgrade.
