    Hey guys,

I've got a 5562 acer aspire model (similar to the 5672 model) and I've connected
an SVIDEO to RCA cable from the laptop to my TV.
While on Windows XP Home that came installed with the laptop I've
pressed the Fn-F5 button, I see the little square computer icon and my TV flickerd
for a moment but nothing... Nothing was displaying on the TV.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Use your GPU control panel to activate and control tv-out connected device

You might need to press the Fn-F5 button a ew more times to cycle through. And make sure you have the correct format, ie PAL or NTSC, and that it is enabled.

Well I was trying to look at the ATI's Catalyst menu stuff but couldn't
find anything useful to configure PAL or NTSC or use it...
I've cycled many times... simply nothing.

    Using Catalist 6.x:
go to Displays Menager, doubleclick on 2nd display to activate it (if it's not active yet), set proper resolution, go to TV Properties (it should appear in left menu), click on Formats, select proper signal format.

Fn-F5 changes displays, if you have monitor connected to VGA output.

I've told this to the guy at the computer's shop and he looked around in
the properties and said that I have some generic catalyst version which is not good and that I should get the X1400 ATI driver from their official website...

I'd have to admit that I looked at it with him and didn't see support for TV,
    or 2nd screen or something...

So I understand that if you rightclick somewhere on your desktop, go to properties and then settings, you can see only ONE rectangle representing ONE screen???
It's hard to believe, cause I had support for second screen even with factory drivers for Radeon 7500 couple of years ago. It didn't have separate control panel like current Catalyst version, but under Advenced tab you could find all the settings. I'm not sure, but I believe that 2nd screen support is even part of Windows XP itself...

    Here's the thing,
If I go to Catalyst Control Center -> Help -> About -> I'm seeing version
    1.2.2180.38582
If I go to Right Click -> Properites -> Settings -> I see 2 displays, if I continue
to Advanced -> ATI Catalyst Control Center -> I'm seeing 2 displays too and I double click the 2nd display trying to activate it but it doesn't look like it's
activated... there's no TV tab or modes or anything like that to choose
    from PAL or NTSC...

Ok. Let's try the easiest way.
Rightclick on desktop, Properties, Settings, click on 2nd display, check Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor, Apply. It should activate 2nd display without problems. You can change resolution here also. You'll see controls for TV format in CCC only if your device is active. If it doesn't work, try to reboot your notebook with TV connected (and ON). If it's not gonna work also, you can try to reinstall the driver, but I guess that S-Video to RCA adapter could be a reason... Try to connect the other TV with regular S-Video cable.

    God damn stupid TV.
Sorry for the language, but it seems that it was the front video-in RCA input
that was malfunctioning cause I was like - "no way this doesnt work" when
I tried a 2nd cable from a friend, so I tried the back video inputs and it works
    just fine.

Thanks for all the help and clearing that out.
