I just turned on my laptop and the LCD display had turned white and slightly fuzzy; however when i tap the lcd display in the back or twist the panel to the right it turns back to normal.

Any suggestions as to why this is?
    Any help is much appreciated.

try to check flexible data cable,

move lcd panels towards and backwards
if you got normal images when you moves the panels, then flexible data cable might be fault.

but from your statement above, when you tap behind LCD panel and then images turns back to normal, .. maybe flexible data connector on LCD panels need to be cleaned.

indeed, in many case this problem reason is LCD panel itself is fault and need to replaced with a new one (you can got with $90 for second / refurbish condition, or $130 for new condition)

i hope, this can help your problem :D
