This is my wifes laptop, it has windows Vista home premium on it and she wants XP instead. The laptop came with a Vista upgrade disk, and when you access the recovery partition it boots through an "XP" splash screen and then wants an "Acer Enpowering Technology" password to continue, I cannot find any passwords in the manual or paperwork that I have for it. I am hoping the restoration files on the partition are XP, that would make things a bit easier :)

Any ideas how to get past this?

    Thanks!

I once tried Acer eRecovery while in windows, it asked for a password I obviously forgot. With Norton Partition Magic you can get in the hidden partition, and find a textfile with the password in it.
