Like it says. This thing says "connected" all the time. It's annoying me that every attempt to disable it causes the Connection Properties box to stop responding. The computer then won't reboot or shut down (just sits forever at "shutting down Windows" screen.)

Not trying to be awkward, but... why bother?

1394 has got to use what... tiny amounts of power? Is it really worth the effort (I've never tried to disable mine so... just trying to understand the reasoning first).

Not awkward at all. But I don't need it, I never use it, and whatever tiny amount of power it uses, it will be using it for the life of my computer for absolutely no purpose -- that's the whole point of disabling devices. I'm curious why this causes the computer such a huge problem.

I can't get the computer to Stand By, either.
