    Hey All.
As some of you may know,
I picked up the Acer 5672 from newegg for $1174.00. I got this
    notebook to aid me with on site computer repairs;
I had read a lot of complaints over the screen.
More so to the travel mate 8200
series. I did read some people complain
about this screen as well for a screen
with a 1280X800,resolution is great, nice and bright.
The keyboard is ok. Has a nice durable feel, however, it does have some flex
after using the keyboard for a while now, I have gotten
used to it to it. Had some friends try it out; they all thought it was great.
Music/video keys work with Windows Media Player
This track pad has to be the first that I have
ever liked! Synaptic provided the track pad for the 5672,
and it is a pleasure to use. No jumping around like Toshiba M45=S2692
I hardly use track pads on notebooks. (I bought an Acer Ferrari mouse on ebay, the red one) I just
don’t like them. I have never found one that was
really good. I have owned 10 different
notebooks in the past 4 years, and not one of them
has been better than the others. Till now… I absolutely
despised the track pad on the M45.
This is a quiet notebook. You cannot
hear the fan. The heat is no issue at
all. The palm rests get slightly warm. The air vent is
towards the back right hand side of the notebook.
It doesn't get hot, just warm.
When under heavy load you can start to feel the heat, under your hands as you type. But this is normal.
I have continuously ran Sandra’s burn in, 4
internet windows, word, and a dvd playing, all at the same time
There is no slowdown, or delays while running everything at once
The sound is acceptable, The speakers are in the front.
They sound pretty good, but not great. The Toshiba was much better, might have something to do with the Harmon Kardon speakers that ship with the RM-45
I really like the slot loader drive, noisy yes, but hey you do not have to worry about breaking the tray. Just remember you can’t use mini cd’s
The camera on the top of the screen works really well. We had a blast with the avatars, moustache and crown. The zooming lens is a nice touch.
All this on the factory load. I will be installing xp pro in the near future. If I did not have to tie into different networks, and computers, to troubleshoot and repair. I could live with this version of windows. I am sure that when this has been out for a while, driver updates will improve the performance of this notebook, even more. But for now I am one happy camper
