I have the Aspire 5672 with the x1600 card, and I get this weird high pitched beeping/chirping sound from the left side of my notebook. The sound is high pitched and in intervals that occurs every few seconds kind of like the chirping of a cricket but faster. Anyone else have this problem and is there a fix, this sound is annoying.
    thanks

Are you sure it is your GPU?

    Hi,
My laptop started making a noise too - very high pitched like a microphone makes sometimes. It is continous and doesnt stop until the battery is removed and have no idea whats doing it. I have almost filled my C drive so want to try and get some stuff off the laptop, but dont know if keeping it on will make it worse or not. Does anyone know what is wrong with it?

it definitely sounds like the hd. you could try downloading some thing like notebook hardware control (nhc) and using their hd acoustic management option to see if that will reduce the sound.

i downloaded nhc, but the option for hd acousitc managemtn is grayed out so I can't change it. Do you have any idea why? Or other solutions? Thanks
