i'm gettin my 5672 next week and after i remove that black reflective thing, i'm gonna reformat it and install xp pro. From the list here:

    http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/fo...m/us&siteid=7293&areaid=7&formid=3394#results

what should i exclude? or should i just download and install all the drivers and downloads?

from my past experiences reformating notebooks and desktops, there were sometimes an order to install the drivers ensure that all the parts will function properly. Does this apply here? My cousin's s96j had this issue when he installed his drivers in the wrong order...

    thanx!

I'd be interested in an answer to this as well...

I think the Bluetooth drivers from their site may be corrupted, unless something messed up with my download.

i've covered this question over on my 5672wlmi review - http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,16348055. Go read though the thread to see how I went and installed the correct drivers to reduce bloat, and installed only what I needed etc.

Basically this is only what you need, nothing more.

*edit* here is the exact list of the NEEDED drivers (this excludes any Acer E_Management software) - http://img508.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture8ra.jpg

but please, go read my review on how I installed the drivers by pointing the .dll to the missing driver instead of letting the applcation install the crap for me! Saves you time, hdd space, and most importantly unneeded bloat.

Not all of those are absolutely necessary drivers. All that acer eperformance/settings crap is not really needed. Pretty much u need wireless, sound, gpu, touchpad, cardreader and the cpu drivers.

And, most important, drivers for the chipset.

Agreed, not all of the acer E-Crap is not needed, however I did take a screenshot of the drivers required to bring a pc up to date in device manager.

Again, please look at the picture to see what is needed and what is not. All of those drivers are REQUIRED by the 5672wlmi and are not "optional".

The standard order I choose to install my drivers are as follows

Chipset, Video, Audio, Lan, Touchpad, Card Reader, Bluetooth, Wireless, PCMCIA, IR, etc.

You really can't screw up the order or the install of xp if you include the chipset first. After that everything else falls into place really.

Thanks and hope it helps [IMG]
