My Acer Aspire 5710G with Vista went to a black screen after Windows automatic update. It will not boot, will not enter set up, and is completely unresponsive. When I power it on, the fan starts but after 2 seconds stops. Power light stays on but black screen with nothing else. I have checked the HD in another computer but it works fine. Switched the RAM out too. Is there a way I can recover the bios? I'm pretty sure it's gone corrupt. I read Acer has updated the bios because of problems like this. It has a Phoenix BIOS too, but I'm not sure how to do a crisis disk recovery method.

I don't see how BIOS could get corrupted because of a power outage. It seems more likely that it might have been a power surge followed by a power outage that did some physical damage.

I should've mentioned that after the power outage, I had it running on the battery for a bit, and then when it was installing updates, I carelessly held down the power button to turn it off. Ever since I did that, it will not boot. It's almost as if Windows update was installing a BIOS update or something. I've even tried powering it on with a new HDD or no HDD at all and the same problem persists!

EDIT: Well I'll be damned! It's working again! I went straight into windows, and flashed the BIOS just to make sure it doesn't happen again. I wonder what the problem could've been. I'll report back if any problems persist.
