Reality check time.
Am I missing something, or is the only difference between these two laptops:
Newegg.com - Acer Aspire AS5742-6638 Notebook Intel Core i5 480M(2.66GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory DDR3 1066 640GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi Intel HD Graphics
Newegg.com - Acer Aspire AS5742-6413 Notebook Intel Core i5 480M(2.66GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory DDR3 1066 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi Intel HD Graphics
that the one for $30 less has hard drive that's 140GB bigger?
For someone who doesn't game (at all), is there really any reason to get the 5742G over the 5742?
I've never had an Acer before, always steered clear because of tales of cheap builds, reports of hardware failures, etc. but these Acers seem to pack quite a punch for the money.
I'm not 100 percent sold yet - the kb might be a deal breaker - trying to decide between Asus and some kind of Lenovo for a better KB. The Acers seem to beat most others in performance for the money, though. Even with equal specs, PC Mag benchmarks & reviews usually give the edge to these lower end Acers. Hard to resist the value.

If I'm not mistaken, the AS5742-6413 seems to lack bluetooth as well (not present in details) - I don't really know how the pricing structure works in the US but it seems that the AS5742-6638 is a steal, especially when compared to the AS5742-6413 because you get a larger hard disk and (seemingly) bluetooth

Oh cool, bluetooth also. Didn't notice that.
It does seem like a good deal, but even better when you read in the comments that a while ago they were going for $499. Might be worth waiting for a summer blowout sale. :-D
