I've been looking at an Aspire 5810T-964GPZ that is on offer at a reduced price locally. I think it's reduced because it has a Vista label on it, so is presumably old stock.

Several questions - Does the 64 in the number mean it is running 64-bit Windows? Would a machine bought now be upgradable to Win7? Would it be upgradable to 64-bit Win 7 at this late stage? I notice that the offer seems to have run out at least on some Acer sites.

There appear to be 64-bit drivers on the Acer sites so it looks as though something should be possible, but it would need to be free to make the purchase worthwhile.

What I need is some low-cost way of testing audio software under 64-bit Win7, and I'm not sure the 5810 would be fast enough anyway. Am I right in thinking it achieves the long battery life by running a very slow processor?

Final question - I suppose no-one here has tried an Aspire 2920 on Win 7 64-bit. There are no drivers on the Acer site, but maybe someone has had a go?
