I set the power options to 50% brightness then click save changes and reboot, the display stays at 50% until about 30 seconds after i see the desktop and then the brightness goes to 100%
I have the brightness in the INTEL graphic properties, colour correction and brightness is set to -60 as low as it will go, and it says like that after reboot but the brightness still goes to 100%
Windows mobility center brightness does not fix the brightness either.
Anybody knows what is wrong , how do i set the brightness to it stays put.
Thanks.

Acer ePower is overriding the OS power management settings. Uninstall it and tweak it to your likings.

But will this not reduce my battery runtime?
EDIT : I cannot seem to find the Acer power management control panel, to adjust the settings.

You can tweak the settings yourself to get the same battery life. Critical settings are max power saving mode of the wifi card, power saving settings in graphics driver control panel and on 5810T disabling the optical drive.

That's the problem, it can't be adjusted
Just remove it. Check Timeline Tweaks(see sig) for general tips and hints, especially "optimizing battery life and undervolting". Timeline Tweaks is focused on 11.6" but many tweaks will work on other devices, too. -

So it goes to 100% brightness by default and there is no way to change it without disabling acer power management, what idiot decided on that.
EDIT : another thing, why is there no on-screen indication of the screen brightness level , like there is for when you adjust the volume?

Something you could try is
1. uninstall ePower
2. set brightness to desired value
3. reinstall ePower
Maybe it works, I didn't try it myself though.
I don't know why there is no OSD for brightness. My 1810t doesn't have one either. -

I un-installed ePower , set power options to 50% , did a re-boot still at 50% , downloaded latest ePower and installed it , as soon as it was installed the brightness went straight to 100%, no re-boot or nothing.
I am just going to use sleep , instead of a full shut-down so the brightness stays the same.
thanks for the help. -
I have both a 5810TZ and a 1410.
On the former, ePower resets brightness to 100% when on AC and 50% on battery, so plugging/unplugging the laptop also overrides current brightness. I didn't notidce this on the 1410 but I removed ePower anyway on that machine too.
Note that on the 5810 there is a separate utility for the ODD that disables it when not in use. I left this utility installed despite removing ePower. Not sure if it functional by itself, however.
