I have a 5810TZ that I have upgraded to Win 7 64-bit. I have tried to upgrade to 8GB ram and Windows hangs. CMOS reads it as 8GB, but I cannot get Windows 7 to boot.

I have installed two 10600 DDR3 chips. If I remove one chip, it boots normally. It doesn't matter which slot I use or which chip I use. But when I put both chips in, Win 7 hangs.

Any ideas that might make it work?

There should we a memory test program available when you boot and push certain keys (F8?). Run that or boot with memcheck86 from a USB stick. If that works your 8GB should too. If not the memory may be bad.
Another thing to look at would be to check if that memory is on the list of 'approved memory' from Acer. Sometimes it just doesn't work with the motherboard. I don't think you can adjust memory timings in the BIOS screen, that would be a possibility as well.
And if all fails - 4gb is plenty - you don't really need 8 anyhow.

so it maybe that your going over the max gig the motherboard chipset can handle

FYI - as of April 7 there is a new BIOS file on the Acer site for the 5810TZ. In part, it "Updates Intel MRC code version 291 (for support 8G memory)."

Sounds like this might help. It is BIOS version 2.34 installed it on my computer and only new thing I notice now is an Olympic ring logo at bootup.

2.34 was pulled. As of 4/22 Acer now has posted BIOS 2.35 I installed this and so far so good.
