I'm currently having problems booting up my 5830TG. When I press the power button, the power button light turns on but nothing else does, I don't hear the fans or the hard drive spinning, and the screen stays black. I've looked up a number of reasons why this would happen and one of them was that I let it go into sleep mode while plugged in.
The solution to that would be to pull the battery out and do a power reset, but the 5830TG has a built-in battery. I've taken PC's apart before but never a laptop (I'm a complete noob), so I was wondering if someone can help me out by walking me through it.
I looked at the service manual for the timeline laptops and they gave no information on how to disassemble it. The instructions in the manual were as if the laptop had a latch and detattachable battery.
All I'm able to do so far was take the panel out that covers the HDD/RAM/CPU since it was one screw and slid it off. For the part of the laptop where the battery is, I took all of the screws out but wasn't able to pry it open from where the battery was. I did try prying it open from the other side, for about less than half an inch but wasn't able to open it. I also left some nice scratches on my laptop while doing this.
I feel like an idiot asking this but I've been searching through google and dozens and dozens of threads on these forums looking for help on this, and wasn't able to find anything.
