    hey guys,

    need some help.
Cant seem to burn 8.5gb DL dvds with the aspire.
    Im using nero 8.
media is fortis dvd+r which considered good according to this
Does the 5920 burner support DL? maybe only DVD-R ?
    maybe a Firmware update ?

    You've got nero right ?
Go into tools and run InfoTool or download it from here....
Check the model of the ODD, its firmware and what write features it supports....

It could be a problem with nero.
If you are writing a Data DL DVD, write it to an image file (.iso) in Nero.
Download MagicISO, and write the ISO file on to a DL DVD. See if it is possible.

check this link for some other info about your drive and dual layer disks,,

you will want to check out that link, and buy something like TDK media,, i tend to use SONY blank DVDs because they work good and are cheap... i've never had a bad burn.. those disks you are using are good disks, but they are not as "MARKETED" as a TDK or SONY.... unfortunately most ODD firmware supports major brand DVDs a lot sooner, so i would try a common brandname dvd that you can buy at the local wal-mart.
