After reinstalling the clean copy of vista and installing all the drivers I noticed I don't have the handy acer webcam program which allows you to take pics. I installed all the necessary drivers and asked customer support but they were useless!

I think its called acer crystal eye webcam?

This might of been asked before but it wasn't resolved. Was a handy bit of software and im sure is needed by whoever installs a clean copy of vista.

    Cheers guys!

Did you burn a driver/apps DVD? If so, make sure you installed both Suyin camera driver AND utility.

    If not, try acer's website.

I did a clean version of vista, saved me all the bloatware and so sped up the laptop, after installing all the drivers from the acer site theres still no program.

It seems you cant get the program unless you install from the 'acer' version of vista. Where can you get the stand alone program???

When you mean the Suyin camera driver do you mean the drivers Suyin and Bison?

I did the same a few months ago, and i downloaded bison cam driver from acer's download support site, and it works fine :), anyways if it didn't work, you should try suyin. One of them must work.

Whats the difference between Suyin and Bison? Are they both needed for the camera to work (and does one carry the picture taking program) or is each driver for a certain camera model?

Each is for a different camera model.

Bison is more common, especially in 5920s, so try that first.
