    Hi All,

Sorry for being such a newb about this but. From what I understand the Dolby Hometheatre technology emulates a 5.1 channel over 2 speakers. Does this mean when I watch a DVD and do the audio setup, given a choice between Dolby Surround and Dolby Digital 5.1, I should select the Dolby Digital 5.1? Or just select the surround and let it emulate the 5.1 channel?

Also S/PDIF (optical) supports 5.1. Phone and SPDI/F have the same output. You just have to use optical cable. See manual (number 3 in the picture of notebook's front)

Hi adamus thanks that was helpful. I saw some blog saying that the 5920G supports 7.1 but haven't seen anything about that.

    Hi,

My problem is with the HDMI out. I can only get Stereo sound(PCM) as i cannot select but stereo speakers from control panel/speaker configuration. As I know HDMI can carry out DD 5.1 sound.
Is there a way to enable 5.1 speakers from HDMI out on my Acer 5920G ?

    Thank you
