I've learnt not to install new BIOS versions without checking with others if the water is warm...Anyone try these?

Is it simply for those newer systems with tv tuners? I really can't be bothered to upgrade again, unless its necessary, as things are fine at the moment.

I've read a lot about this Write Cache, especially Bigspin complaining it doesn't work :D. I predict he flashes his 5920 with this BIOS, I am so confident I would put a bet on it.

What exactly does it do? Make stuff load faster?

it seems to have addressed the minor keyboard lag issue, at least for me it did. Before, i was getting some keyboard lag when typing fast in some programs, ie: when playing wow, but now it seems to have resolved that.

yeh theres a flash utility included with the down load and all you do is right clk and run as admin then choose the new bios file

it even backs up your present bios in case something goes wrong

it does seem quicker though defo worth upgrading! :)

It will not work unless You turn off Intel Turbo Memory. You must uninstal ITM completly. It's becouse ITM makes HDD like a Hybrid Hard Drive Probably it's for ReadyDrive option, however in my laptop it's broken and I can't enable it, even after installing a new Vista. Maybe it's only a problem with drivers for ITM, You can see in a system "Event Viewer" that after turning Write Cache on, driver switches off it automaticlly.

    Sorry for my bad english.

I could not enable it even before I installed the turbo memory module.

Guys can you post your idle CPU temp after this update.I think this bios have problem reading cpu temp.
    With 3706 Bios mine(5920G with T7300 @ 2.0Ghz) idle @ 46-48c ,but after this update mine idle @ 50-52C.

Maybe this is due to incorrect reading (BIOS Bug???)

I tried flashing my acer 5920 with the new bios but got an error saying it cannot load the driver PHLASHNT.SYS. I did some googling and apparently its because i'm running a x64 version of windows. Does anyone know how to do it on a 64 bit system? (i'm running vista home premium x64 btw). Also this is the first bios update i'm doing for this laptop (obviously) so is it worth it? would i miss anything if i didn't?

I noticed the same thing. I have the 1.5ghz version and I noticed it sitting at 52c+ when idle. And it was under 50 before I updated.

    Hi!

I got a question. After reading this i still dont know which BIOS is best to upgrade to? 3706 or 3708?

Still got one problem... when i tried to upgrade with SWinFlash it says i have no admin. privilege. But i have only one account and that is admin.

    Can you help me?
