    Hello,

I`ve been trying to figure out why my acer 5920g`s screen isnt working. Here is the recap on what happened.

The laptop was on a sleep state for a good 8-9 hours and when I tried to wake it up all I got was a dead screen with the cpu running. As you may have already guessed I did a hard reboot and the same thing occur. At first I suspected that my video card died, but I realized my sound isnt working either.

Is this a video card problem, a cpu problem, or a hard drive problem?

First remove all power and the battery.
Now hold the power button for 20 seconds or so... to discharge any capacitors etc in PSU.
Reconnect battery and AC power and try again.

    And then if not OK,

Is there no light at all from the screen ?

If you do a hard reboot and keep pressing F2 does the BIOS screen appear.

Can you see any image on the screen if you shine a bright light at it (torch). Backlight issue ?

I tried everything you suggested. All I got was a black screen (the screen does not light up at all). I've tried attaching an monitor to it and the result is the same.

It's either your motherboard or the video card. If you still have a warranty - call them right away!

    It doesn't sound good tbh.

Would removing the HDD and then seeing if you can boot to the BIOS prove anything ?
What are the symptoms of a failed HDD ?
