I have been reading that some folks are having problems with some games, especially DOOM III.
I have a possible solution, it just dawned on me today... I remembered running 3DMark2001 a few days ago.... And it wouldn't Install.... A box popped up saying that i did not have DirectX-9c, and asked if i wanted to install it. I did, and it installed and ran 3DMark2001 just fine.
Now.... I'm thinking, maybe there is something in DirectX-9c that games like DOOM III need, a file, .dll etc.. That is not in DirectX-10.
Soooo, i guess perhaps running 3DMark2001, and having it install DirectX-9c might make compatibility better.
I'd say it's worth a shot... I'm playing everthing just fine, but i do not have DOOM III to try.... and installing DirectX-9c did not disturb anything up at all.

I installed the latest directx update (June) that should update existing files you may be missing from pervious directX versions. However, farcry, which is a directx9 game does not work for me.
It seems those games heavy in dx9 do not work with this notebook. That said, I havent installed the directx 9.0b drivers offered to me during the far cry installation, but I shouldn't have to... -
It was worth a shot.... So.. DOOM III, and now FAR CRY are on the list.
