    Two questions:
Can the video card be upgraded on the 5920G? In mine I have a 8600M 256mb
    onboard 1gb turbocache.

Is it worth upgrading the video card?

Normally, 99% laptop graphics cards CANNOT BE UPGRADED, however, since the 5920G is in the 1% of laptops with MXM slot upgradable graphics..yes, you can upgrade to a 256MB 8600M-GT GDDR3 MXM, with a bettery type of graphics memory (yours has DDR2), which will yield slightly better performance..However, it is a tedious process, and will probably void your warranty..so in the long run, it's probably not worth it.

Thanks for the info. Would the 8600M with GDDR3 be enough of a performance upgrade to be worth the monetary cost? I'm not going to install it myself I'm going to pay geek squad to install it. Do they make a 8600M with GDDR3 and 512mb and would I be able to upgrade to that? Are there any better cards I could upgrade to? Thanks for your help!

Depends on the cost, but you won't get a huge increase in performance. And geeksquad's gonna **** you for the install, I suggest doing it yourself or going to a local computer shop.

Hypothetically would I be able to upgrade to the 8700M? Its PCI Express x16 just like the 8600M. Will any of the GeForce 9 series be compatible with my system?

DO NOT TAKE A NOTEBOOK TO GEEKSQUAD FOR A VIDEO CARD INSTALL. They do not know that video cards in notebooks can be upgraded. Just don't do it for the sake of your laptop.

Thanks for the warning about geeksquad and video cards. Are they okay at upgrading processors or Hard drives? Cause I was looking into getting a T7500 and getting a 7200rpm drive, I think the Acer BestBuy model only has a 4200 or 5400rpm something like that. I really don't want risk breaking my laptop by doing this myself!

no, the 8700m is MXM type 3, the acer 5920g supports up to mxm type 2.
They say the 9 series is just a diehard shrink of 8 series for the mobile GPU. So, it MAY be compatible with the Acer 5920g, I'm crossing my fingers for the 9600m GT to work. Though this is all just speculation

Desktop 9600GT score 10000+ 3DMarks(06) ,so we can expect mobile version with 7000+ 3DMarks.

Is the 9600M a lot faster than the 8600M?

That's the desktop version. That won't fit in your Acer laptop.

You're being quite optimistic, I'd say it'll barely sc**** pass the borders of 6000. I don't really want it to perform excellently like a 8800m, but for humanity's sake , make it compatible with the 5920g's current mxm platform, (with suitable Vbios of course)

P/S I swear that was a perfectly fine word to use, but it got censored just because the other half of it spells exactly the same as "it"?? gezzz...

That's wierd. I called them and they said they could upgrade the cpu. Online site said the service charge was $40.
