Hey guys,
Have any of you tried outputting an HD-DVD Movie to your HDTV via the HDMI
port?
I can't get it to work without the "incompatible video driver, error code 0122"
message. Looks like on Monday I'll have to get an ACER rep to figure this out.
BTW, playing regular DVD's or just regular duplication of my desktop to the
HDTV thru HDMI works OK. This could be caused by the "Play Movie" program
also.
Does anyone know of another program I could download for possibly a free trial
that supports playing HD-DVD movies? I can't seem to get Media Player to do it.
Any and all suggestions welcomed!

Did you change your video driver to a modded one.. Just curious as this a known issue.

Badabing,
Still running with stock driver. Actually, I've done some testing since my earlier post about this HD-DVD thing. It appears the modded drivers are OK. I did some testing, and I only get that "Error 0122" when hooked up through HDMI trying to play an HD-DVD with that damn movie player software,
regardless of what driver I use. Once I get a hold of another player, perhaps this problem will go away.
The wife's got me doing home projects today so I haven't been able to mess with it much. I just had to send her over to Home Depot for a drill bit I needed, so I got a few minutes break! -
Interesting.... I wonder if there is a update to the software on there website? I havn't used it, or played any HD movies yet.
Definantly Keep us posted... Glad to hear it's not the modded drivers. -
Has anyone discovered a solution to this problem. I am having the same problem and when I contacted Acer support they told me to download the updated video driver from their site. Problem was it was the same one that came installed on the 5920 so it accomplished nothing. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I tried my 32" Sharp 1080P TV using the Svideo out of the laptop. Very good picture using Acer Arcade, but I'm a bit spoiled due to watching Blu-ray disks at 1080p using a Sony PS3.
Using the SPDIF out, my receiver Sony STR-DG800 decodes Dolby Digital 5.1 surround, DD surround EX (7.1), DTS (5.1) and DTS EX 7.1(matrix and discrete) off disks played on the laptop. (Gangs of New York and Lord of the Rings Return of the King). DTS wasn't decoded until I changed the audio settings in Acer Arcade. I have decided that Acer Arcade and QuickTime players (for HD trailers) are the best to use. I rarely use the Windows Media player. I can't detect any difference between the audio from the PS3 and the Acer 3680.
taken from another thread on here. we have been playing about with the SPDIF output (optical) and come across this.
hope it helps
you can thank Ray for the answer.
EDIT ive just tried quicktime player for HD and it works ok -
This may be old news now but I had this problem and have just discovered the answer:
For my Acer I had to turn off the laptop screen and just have the projector on via hdmi. I am told that this is because HD DVD's can tell that they are being viewed on 2 monitors/screens at the same time and block it because they think they are being copied.
It worked for me and it is fantastic
Hope this helps -
.....then I had to go into settings and change the Audio setting to SPDIF to get sound to go from the headphone/spdif socket on the front to my surround amp. Otherwise it only sends sound down the HDMI. Not ideal
But I plan to get an AV amp with HDMI for xmas -
I too have an Acer 5920G. Tried the HDMI cable into my LG tv and had similar error message (0122) figured out that had to turn display to TV only instead of duel display.
However................ I now try to play a Blu-ray movie on the laptop not connected to tv and get the errror message on the laptop screen !!! *** ?
Please help me someone -

So glad you posted this on this forum...much appreciated my friend!!!!!

sorry, this is probably a dumb question, but I'm having the same issue when trying to play Blu Ray through HDMI to the HD TV in that I get Error Message 0122.
Can anyone tell me how I go about turning the lap-top display off and just using the projector to play it through the tv?
thanks -
Hi Guys,
not sure if you have sorted the problem with the Acer Aspire 5920g, getting a blue ray to work threw a hdmi cable? Ell here your answer, just been on to Acer UK. What you have to do it press the fn key and F5, keep finger on fn key and you will see 3 options, you need to select the option that show the HDTV this will swicth laptop screen off and you will see your desk top screen on your tv. Blue will only play on 1 screen due to copy right laws. Don't forget to config the sound as well. This worked on my 5920g a treat! So hope this help if you guys still have problems. -
Hi, you can't display blue-ray on the laptop screen and your tv at the same time due to licencing. Use Fn F5 to display on the TV only and it's work fine.
