    Hey all

Since I got a new laptop I risked changing my working 5920G's 8600m GT with the ATI Mobility Radeon HD3650 I bought last year. I wanted this, because my 8600m GT sometimes flickers once in some seconds. I used a small copper heatsink plate I bought online and Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste. I failed, the 3650 showed no screen and one corner of it was bent (only when in the laptop), since there was a thicker part where it didn't fit. I also tried to flash a 3650 vbios with a working bootable usb and atiflash. Since I couldn't see anything I don't know if it worked. It didn't help.

Since it failed I wanted to put my old card back in.
So I removed the copper and cleaned the heatsink of the laptop.
I also cleaned the heatsink of the 8600m GT and used Arctic Silver 5 again to put the card back in. Now I got a black screen with my original card. I tried to flash a 8600mGT vbios with the same usb stick and nvflash. Didn't help, but I couldnt see the proces.

Is there a way to get my original and up till now working 8600 m GT working again? I thought I would improve my laptop, but now it cant be used.

Those GT8600 cards are so fragile, its likely dead.

Just make sure to double check your LCD cable is in properly.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm familiar with the problems of these cards. This one is a replacement for the one that came with it.

But pulling (quite hard) this card from its slot and then returning it to it could be enough for it to die?
The card had the smallest form of flickering I have seen in these cards (seen some on youtube).

I simply removed the card from a friends notebook to try an HD4650 and it bricked too.

You could maybe try baking it.
