Hi,
There have been some threads about wi-fi and the 5920G bios version 3805. Like most other people this hasn't been a problem.
However, ReadyDrive is now disabled in the Turbo Memory console and I can't change it. It was enabled before, and this issue definitely appeared after I updated to 3805.
I reinstalled the latest version of Turbo memory but no dice. I now have the problem of ReadyBoost working but not ReadyDrive, as is sometimes reported in the threads. However, I know it should work - because it did before!
Any suggestions - and anyone else with this issue?![]()

As far as I remember this is an issue with VISTA and ITM, if you realy want this future enable reinstal your system with formating drive C: it should help. In my laptop this funcition dissaperd after I had updated Chipset drivers, Intel Matrix Storage Manager and ITM drivers for new one.

I have the same problem.....the readydrive option is grayed out in the ITM console after the BIOS Update. I have tried reinstalling Windows a bunch of times...the drivers....and still nothing....This is getting really getting on my nerves
-
Lets hope that sp1 will have a solution for this
-
Already tried SP1 RTM...NO result

I also have this issue (about ReadyDrive being grayed-out in Turbo Memory Console), but NV-Cache tab showing 387mb is present in my HDD properties and Windows Hybrid Hard Disk Power Saving Mode available in advanced power plan settings. So I think it is actually working...just you cannot turn it either off or on.

Same problem here. Did a complete reinstall of vista ultimate and tried with the drivers from acer (1.0) and the newest intel drivers (1.5) and both didn't work. Downgrading to the previous bios solved the problem immediately. I've sent the question to acer but haven't recieved an aswer yet. When they do, I'll report back.

I've sent this question to Acer 2 times already with 1 month interval and still haven't got a single reply, so...wish you HUGE luck =)

I've tried everything.....Reinstalling vista.....installing 64 bit & 32 bit versions ....with or without service pack 1.....I tried all driver versions of ITM but still nothing....Althought the readydrive option is grayed out int the ITM console, in disk management I have the NVCache and if i hit properties it tell me that the drive is allmost full.Power management also lets me enable or disable hybrid sleep option. Reinstalling one version of ITM drivers over another showed some results but only momentarily. After the requested restart i checked the ITM console and i had both readyrive and readyboost options available and enabled. After a second restard only readyboost was left enabled and readydrive was greyed out. So after all the testing I am almost absolutely sure that the new BIOS version is to blame because with v3708 everything worked like a charm. There may be a chance that the ITM drivers available to date are not compatible with the new BIOS because in v3805 Acer modified some of the ITM parameters ....so it could be Intel's fault to for not providing good/new drivers.....I just hope we can sort this mess out as soon as possible. Cheers

Hello,
I have the same problem! with: 3706, 3708, 3805
Ready Drive works only with 3702:
HowTo:
1. Flash Bios 3702
2. Intel Turbo Memory Driver install again
3.Vista restart
Done! -
Still no answer from acer by the way. -
Hello
I figured out that the option is grayed out when the BIOS option Network boot is set to disable.
However this is not a case with the new BIOS v.3805 so I must downgrade to 3708.
I don't see how is network boot related to ReadyDrive but this is the case with every 37xx BIOS.
Hope this will help someone. -
Hi
I have 5920g t7100 bought in hongkong - their laptops should support turbo memory - but I don't know how to check if its there - I installed 1.5 drivers but no action is availble when I open Intel matrix storrage device. Is there any way just to confirm my laptop supports this feature - even if its not working due to drivers? oh - on the label it says - "up to 512mb nvidia geforce 8600M GT Turbo Cache" - I gues upgating bios is pointless at this point. -
-
I flashed back BIOS 3708 and ReadyDrive option is available again, but only if network boot is enabled in BIOS.
-
new bios version available: ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_5920/vista/BIOS/
according to the release notes, this should fix the problem.
Also a lot of new drivers are posted: ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_5920/vista/Drivers/
Going to flash my bios now.

EDIT: It works! Issues fixed -
WOW jonspencerbx, You made acer to fix Robson issue
-
, but I'm glad everything is ok again. Everything flies on my end now. Installed vista SP1 RTM yesterday and all is well.

Great find! I just spent the whole of Thursday trawling through the entire FTP to look for the latest drivers (they released some earlier for other models).. Sigh

I have one small issue with the 38xx bios versions though, I thought it might have something to do with the readydrive issue, but it appears unfixed in v3808. After the acer splashscreen it takes a long time before the hd actualy starts working and booting vista. with long I mean like 20-30 seconds. This wasn't the case with the 37xx bios versions. Anyone else noticed this?

Happy To Say That The New Bios Version 3808 Has Solved The Problem !! I Have Both Readydrive And Readyboost
-
Yeah, its slower.
waiting for new bios
-
Unbelievable!!!!! Both ReadyDrive & ReadyBoost are finally enabled after installing latest (3808) bios!
P.S. I haven't noticed any slowdowns at startup with this bios, so for me it works remarkable. -
Great news with the bios update (ReadyDrive working!) and the slew of Acer updates....nice!
As always a great forum with great feedback (and big up to johnspencerbx)

With BIOS 3808 readydrive is working in the same way like in 37xx, if you disable network boot in BIOS you get disabled and grayed out the ReadyDrive option in Turbo Memory console.
It's working but it bothers me how are this two things related. -

If the drivers are installed (they are by default), the 'options' (there aren't many...) are in the 'intel turbo memory' folder in your start menu.
