    Hi..

I wish to replace the battery from my 5920g, but after a few searches i got several models:

    -10.8V 4400mAh
    -10.8V 4800mAh
    -11.1V 4400mAh
    -11.1V 5200mAh
    -14.8V 4400mAh
    -14.8V 4800mAh
    -14.8V 5200mAh

The battery that came with the laptop is 11.1V 5200mAh (AS07B41)..but the previous owner said the it was better to purchase a 14.8V battery..so which one i should choose?

    Thanks

Get the 14.8V 5200mAh if you don't mind using 3rd-party replacements. If you want an original Acer battery, the best you can get is 14.8V 4800mAh.

    Why?

Because you get the actual power capacity of the battery by multiplying the voltage with the mAh capacity. So, a 11.1V 5200mAh battery can hold 57.72 Wh of charge, while a 14.8V 5200mAh one can hold 76.96 Wh. At a typical discharge rate of 20W, that means almost an entire hour of battery life.

    Thanks for the answer :)

I got confused because i thought minor voltage means less power consumption..but has you explain a 14.8V is better than 11.1V. I will get a 3dr party battery.

Inside the laptop, the battery's voltage is always regulated down to the same value, as required by the various electronic components. So, power consumption will always be (relatively) constant. What matters, is that at a higher voltage, it takes a lower current to supply the same power to the system.

I don't understand this. "At a typical discharge rate of 20W, that means almost an entire hour of battery life. "
If you have 76.96 Wh, wouldn't you get about 3.8 hours run time?

    Please straighten me out.

He meant an additional hour of battery life that you get from a 14.8V battery compared to 11.1V.

Have you already purchased your third party battery? I am in the exact same situation, and am debating what sort of battery to buy.
